Sediment Movement

Sediment transport occurs in many systems on a nearly continuous basis and has important implications for contaminant transport, dredging, and engineering design. However, historically, monitoring sediment transport over large areas has proven logistically difficult.

SelkerMetrics has developed proprietary fiber optic techniques to monitor near real time scouring and deposition at high spatial resolution across large, multi-acre scales. This work often accompanies groundwater seep detection, but can be offered as a standalone deployment. Once fiber is installed, sediment transport monitoring occurs remotely with little to no additional field deployments required.
